This series deals with exploring ways to mix
atmospheric backgrounds and merge the
subject matter into a unified composition
of found and lost edges. I am very interested
with how color and contrast can create
emotional responses. I choose flora
for the subject matter because of their
delicacy and their innate ability to convey a
sense of mortality. These paintings demand
a tremendous amount of compositional
forethought, yet I had to let the watercolor
colors blend freely, as I look to balance
abstraction with realism.
